UC Davis Global Learning Outcomes Framework
Please take a moment to review what global learning is and why it is important to our students and UC Davis community. The frameworks describe three broad global learning goals—each with a set of outcomes that demonstrate what students will know or be able to do upon completion of their educational experiences. From building awareness; exploring diversity in language, culture, and identity, as well as dynamics of equity and inclusion around the world; to taking action to face challenges in one’s own community, global learning is an essential component of our students’ educational journeys.
What type of Global Learning opportunities does the Global Learning Hub offer students?
The Global Learning Hub also offers many opportunities for students to engage global learning virtually. Please use the hyperlinks below to navigate virtual opportunities:
Key Advising Resources
- The Global Learning Programs Search Tool allows students to quickly and easily search programs related to their global learning interests. Students can search by program type, term, region of the world, or subject area.
- The Scholarships & Funding Search Tool allows students to filter funding opportunities based on programs, degree level, term, subject, region of the world, or type of award.
- The Major Advising Pages (MAPS) list popular or recommended study abroad programs for each major and/or academic subject area. Please note that options for students in all cases are more extensive than listed.
- The Recordings Library hosts dozens of recorded global learning events and information sessions. Session topics are wide-ranging and include sessions on identity in a global context, scholarships and funding, post-graduation opportunities, internships, research, and more.
- Global Learning Hub Advisor Luncheon: This is an in-person event that highlights the advising community’s efforts in supporting students with their global learning needs. This event includes programming updates from the Global Learning Hub and the Golden Globe Awards (aka the Globies).
- Outreach Request Form: The Global Learning Hub is excited to connect with students, parents, families and professional staff throughout the academic year. If you are interested in having Global Learning Hub Staff participating or collaborating in campus-affiliated events, please fill out this form at least four weeks prior to an event.
Annual Events to Share with Your Students
- The Global Learning Fair provides students the opportunity to connect with program instructors and returnees, and learn about program details, funding opportunities, and receive on-the-spot advising on how to complete the study abroad enrollment form.
- The annual Global Learning Conference provides students with the opportunity to articulate and market their global learning perspectives, network with potential employers, showcase their experiences, and hear from seasoned professionals in a variety of fields.
- The Global Career Development Series is a series that provides students with global professional development resources and opportunities. Events are ongoing and open to all students. You may access previously recorded events, too.
Professional Development Opportunities
UC Davis Global Learning SDPS Courses
Advising for Global Impact: Helping Your Students Become Globally Engaged is a learning opportunity for staff across the UC Davis campus to develop their awareness, knowledge, and skills in understanding the role global learning plays in students’ academic, personal, and professional development. Global learning is not just about learning about other cultures. In the more comprehensive approach we use at UC Davis, global learning is about building awareness; exploring diversity in language, culture, and identity around the world; and taking action to face challenges in one’s own community. This three-and-a-half-hour course will help you focus on your own development within global learning as a UC Davis employee and will help you bolster your support for students’ global learning while they are at UC Davis.
Fulbright IEA Awards
The Fulbright International Administrators (IEA) Award helps U.S. international education professionals and senior higher education officials create empowering connections with societal, cultural, and higher education systems of other countries.
