Faculty Resources

Faculty play a central role in supporting global learning at UC Davis through many different activities, including: serving as instructors for faculty-led study abroad and internship programs, mentoring Global Impact Fellows, infusing global learning into on campus courses, approving UCEAP course work in majors, serving on the Committee on International Education (CIE), serving on the Program Review committee for the Global Learning Hub/Study Abroad, participating on the Global Education for All steering committee, and suggesting courses for the Global Studies Minor.

If you are already participating in these processes, thank you!

If you wish to get involved, there are many opportunities.

Teaching Opportunities

Propose a Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program

Are you interested in designing and leading your own study abroad program? Contact the Faculty Director of Academic Programs, Aliki Dragona. more information and submit a proposal to the Global Learning Hub.

Teaching for Global Learning

The Global Affairs Teaching for Global Learning program is a cohort-based faculty development opportunity that supports the campus goal of Global Education for All students. This program is offered every Spring quarter, and Academic Senate and Academic Federation faculty across campus and professional schools in small cohorts participate in 4 workshops.  These workshops provide faculty with tools on how to integrate global learning into their courses.  If you have questions, please contact Aliki Dragona, Faculty Director of Academic programs at the Global Learning Hub, or Esther Luna DeLozier, Assistant Director of Partnerships and Faculty Engagement.

First-Year Seminars: Global Learning Seminars

Global First-Year Seminars are an exciting program of small, innovative classes that reflect the instructor's intellectual interests, offered in collaboration with Undergraduate Education. Limited to 19 students each, these unique courses promote intellectual exchange, critical thinking, and community.

Global Impact Fellows

The Global Impact Fellows Program is a one-year commitment to assisting a student-led initiative that addresses a global+local issue where students can hone project management, leadership and specific technical skills in an environment where they have real autonomy. The Fellows' work supports a campus-wide initiative of Global Education for All that aims to help every UC Davis student increase their ability to collaborate effectively and equitably across cultural and geographic boundaries.

Fellows will have opportunities to connect and collaborate with other globally minded students, network with leadership in Global Affairs and across the UC Davis campus, and build leadership skills. The Fellows program is comprised of a mix of undergraduate, graduate and professional students from different fields of study.

Global Studies Minor

The interdisciplinary minor in Global Studies supports students across disciplines to learn about global issues as well as to gain first-hand experience both locally and internationally through academic coursework and experiential learning. Comprised of 20–24 required units, the flexibility of this minor allows students to take coursework on campus and/or while participating in UC Davis programs such as study abroad or an internship. A combination of coursework and experiential learning will allow students to develop capacities in three areas: global awareness, global diversity, and global action.

Interested in getting involved? Please consider reviewing courses in your department/program that include a global lens and let us know about them. We are also looking for faculty to offer guest lectures for the 4-unit lower division course, Global Thinking, EAP 001. Please reach out to Aliki Dragona for more information.
