Seven UC Students Honored for Outstanding Global Internships

From the international halls of Parliament to global nonprofits, students participating in the University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) transform their study abroad experiences into powerful career changes when they intern abroad. Recently, seven students from UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz received awards celebrating their outstanding achievements and personal growth while interning abroad.

Spotlight on the 2024-2025 Projects of Global Impact Fellows

The Global Impact Fellows Program draws upon UC Davis’ commitment to Global Education for All, which aims to provide all UC Davis students with global learning opportunities and experiences. Additionally, each of this year’s projects is tied to one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to create a sustainable future for all.

It Starts with a SEED: SDG 8 at UC Davis

The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth is a goal that encapsulates inclusivity and sustainability in relation to economic growth. The Redwood SEED Scholars Program at the University of California, Davis, aligns with SDG 8.

Widening Circles: Exploring New Pathways for Learning

The UC Davis Widening Circles program enables students to explore new pathways for learning, sharing, connecting, and acting with purpose and humility in the face of global inequality and injustice. 

This fully-funded program combines an online curriculum focused on ethical global engagement and social change with a social impact internship, volunteer experience, or research project.

Alum changemaker awarded prestigious global scholarship

After representing more than 230,000 of her peers as UC Student Association president, Celene Aridin is ready to take her advocacy to the global stage. The 2024 UC Davis graduate joins an elite cadre of 150 scholars from around the world who will study China’s emerging role in global affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing as a 2025 Schwarzman Scholar.
