Global Aggies Blog: Sutures, Safaris and Self-Discovery—Studying Zoo Medicine in South Africa

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Amaya Lewis, a first-gen student majoring in animal science and wildlife, fish, and conservation biology, spent two transformative weeks in South Africa through Loop Abroad’s Zoo Medicine program. Gaining hands-on vet experience while engaging with local conservation efforts and South African culture, Amaya deepened her passion for wildlife medicine and global learning.

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The HACU National Internship Program fall session is for 15 weeks with placement at federal agencies in Washington, D.C., field offices nationwide or remotely. Internships are available to currently enrolled undergraduate, graduate and recently graduated students in any major. Deadline: July 15.

UC Davis Climate Action Fellows

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Climate Action Fellows are mentored by sustainability staff professionals to contribute to a variety of new and ongoing projects and activities in support of the campus' sustainability priorities guided heavily by the priorities and policy recommendations provided in the UC Policy on Sustainable Practices. Global Learning Course Offered Fall Quarter 2025: EAP 001—Global Thinking

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Global Learning Hub offers an interdisciplinary course aimed at developing students’ skills as global actors and change-makers—from critical thinking and problem-solving to creative research, effective writing and public speaking, strategic project management and intercultural communication. Imagining America’s Joy of Giving Something (JGS) Fellowship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The goals of the JGS Fellows Program are to elevate photography and digital media as pathways for undergraduate students to pursue their careers and make a difference in their communities. Fellows receive $2,000 tuition scholarships, mentorship and financial support for a community project. Deadline: July 14.

Peace Corps

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Peace Corps sends volunteers to serve in over 60 countries around the globe. Volunteers must be American citizens and come from all backgrounds to represent the diversity of America abroad. They work at a grassroots level in six different program areas for a period of 27 months.

Amrita Live-In-Labs

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Join this multidisciplinary experiential learning program that facilitates the research, development and deployment of sustainable solutions for current challenges faced by rural communities in India. Open to undergraduate and master's students. Tuition fees are waived, and accommodations and food are reduced for UC Davis students. Questions?

Global Research Opportunities

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Plan ahead and check out research opportunities offered by institutions abroad. These can be an affordable way to engage in international research for both undergraduate and graduate students. Many of these programs charge no program fee to participate, and others offer scholarships to offset some of these expenses.

Competitions, Challenges, and Funding

APRU Tech Policy Hackathon 2025

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Applications are open for the APRU Tech Policy Hackathon 2025, which will empower students to design technology-driven process improvements and regulatory innovations leveraging AI and data science. Teams should apply by June 20.

Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford in England

The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity to pursue a master’s or doctoral program at the University of Oxford in England for one to three years. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or greater and be age 18-27. Pre-application Deadline: June 30.

Marshall Scholarship

The Marshall Scholarship provides full funding for master’s or Ph.D. programs at any university in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland) for one to two years. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or greater. Pre-application Deadline: June 30.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

This program offers annual awards for U.S. citizens who will have bachelor’s degrees by the 2025-26 academic year to conduct research, study or teach English in over 140 countries worldwide. Learn more about eligibility, timeline and requirements. Campus Deadline: September 4.

Schwarzman Scholars

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Receive a full scholarship for a one-year graduate program (M.A. in Global Affairs) at Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Scholars will study and live at Schwarzman College and partake in a core curriculum focusing on public policy, economics and business or international relations. Deadline: September 10.

This webinar will provide an overview of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, including its aims, the funding provided, the application process and timeline and strategies for competitiveness. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who will have completed a bachelor’s degree by the start of the grant in fall 2026. Register.

Roots and Bridges: APRU Indigenous Connections Seminar Series 2025

Join this seminar series to hear works-in-progress, exchange ideas and strategies, and explore relevant topics related to Indigenous Peoples and communities from the Asia-Pacific region.
