Program Overview

Follow the footsteps of gods, philosophers and writers as you explore Greece's rich history, literature and culture. Beginning in Athens, you'll travel to UNESCO World Heritage Sites and other significant destinations across the Peloponnese and beyond, visiting ancient temples, archaeological sites, museums, monasteries and island communities. Along the way, you'll experience everyday life through local markets, community celebrations and conversations with residents, gaining firsthand insight into the Greek tradition of filoxenia—a spirit of generosity and hospitality. As you journey through the same landscapes that inspired the American and Greek writers studied in the course, you'll examine how Greece's ancient past continues to shape its modern identity while developing your own perspective through reflection and writing.
