Accommodations
You will be staying in dormitory-style shared housing.
UC Davis reserves the right to change the accommodation location. Should this be necessary, we will arrange alternative lodging. Please note that elevators, air conditioners, strong WiFi and other modern conveniences may not be available in all locations.
Meals
Two group meals will be included with the program, but all other meals will be on your own.
Excursions and Activities
Through tours and site visits, students will experience the many dimensions to the sensory profiles of raw materials and during the malting and brewing processes. The students will develop a sensory vocabulary and be able to connect their own personal sensory experiences to associated with the unique aromas and flavors in malting and brewing.
In addition, there will be tours of historical locations in Belgium and Germany such as Ypres in Belgium, one of the largest World War I monuments; the E.U. parliament in Brussels, and remnants of the Berlin wall.
Please note: These activities and excursions are tentative and subject to change.
Get to Know Your Destination
From Lonely Planet Belgium: “Historic yet hip, bureaucratic yet bizarre, self-confident yet unshowy, Brussels is multicultural to its roots.
From lonely Planet Germany: “Prepare for a roller-coaster ride of feasts, treats and temptations experiencing Germany's soul-stirring scenery, spirit-lifting culture, big-city beauties, romantic palaces and half-timbered towns.”
Study Abroad Advisory of Student Risk
Participation in this UC Davis Study Abroad program requires travel to and extended living in a foreign location(s) abroad. UC Davis Study Abroad endeavors to reduce and mitigate risk wherever possible. However, the environments and risks associated with living in these locations are substantially different than those found during a regular course of study at UC Davis. All participants must download and review the following information prior to departure. Any questions should be directed to the Program Coordinator.
